Classpod Virtual Audio Device

Application Scenarios

Since MacOS does not support audio sharing, you will need to install the Classpod Virtual Audio Device if you wish to share sound while screen sharing. This does not apply to using the microphone.

Some typical scenarios are as follows:

  1. Playing PPTs with background music;
  2. Using your browser to play YouTube videos;
  3. Using the media player on your computer to play audio and/or video.

Operation Process

The Classpod Teacher client will automatically detect whether the Classpod Virtual Audio Device has been installed before entering the classroom. If you are using MacOS and do not have it installed, you will get the following pop-up window. Follow the steps on the pop-up window to install the Classpod Virtual Audio Device.

How do I know if the Virtual Audio Device has been installed?
  1. You can use the MacOS system software Audio MIDI Setup to view the audio devices on your computer, as shown below:

2. You can also view the current audio output device in the “Sound” panel, as shown below:

How does the Classpod Virtual Audio Device work?

While preparing for classes, the Classpod Virtual Audio Device will automatically turn on, as shown below:

  1. Classpod will automatically switch the system’s sound output to the Classpod Virtual Audio Device, as shown in Figure ①.
  2. The selected device in the Setting->Speaker list will be the audio output device that will be used, as shown in Figure ②
  3. You can adjust the volume through the volume bar, as shown in Figure ③.
How to adjust the volume in the classroom?
  1. Use the volume bar under Settings->Speaker to adjust the volume, as shown in Figure ①.
  2. Do not switch to another output device in the system “Sound” panel otherwise, the sound may not work correctly.
